Preservation Board Moves Quincy’s Annual Victorian Christmas Event to May

November 1, 2011

By Blair Thomas

The annual December tour of six of Quincy’s historical and architecturally significant private homes decorated for the holidays in Quincy has been replaced with a spring tour to be held in May. After much deliberation, the Board of the Quincy Preserves made the switch because it is has been difficult to find five or six homes within walking distance of each other to agree to participate in a tour during the busy holiday season.

May is Preservation Month, so the new tour beginning May 6 will highlight restored homes. Because it takes place in warmer weather, tour-goers will also have the opportunity to enjoy the exterior details of the homes including the gardens.

The annual fall tour will still be held.

For more information on which homes will be open for tours, visit the Quincy Preserves website or call (217) 222-3432.
