An enchanting evening awaits in Galena during the Night of the Luminaria.

On this romantic night, the city of Galena will shine brightly as the sidewalks, streets and steps are host to nearly 5,000 candlelit luminarias. Attendees can find a variety of areas aglow with the candlelit bags, from the Galena River to Main Street to numerous hillsides and parks.

While some choose to walk, others opt for a trolley ride. Hungry visitors can attend a special “Night of Luminaria” dinner at the DeSoto House, the oldest operating hotel in Illinois. There, guests can dine by the candlelight that surrounds the hotel’s courtyard.

The magic takes place on the last Saturday before Christmas, with candles lit at 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.galenachamber.com.
