World Rolle Bolle Tournament in Henry County
July 12-15, Henry County
Ever heard of rolle bolle? With elements from horseshoes and bocce, rolle bolle consists of three-person teams playing on a dirt court with a stake at the end.
The Belgian sport has gained so much popularity in northwestern Illinois’ Henry County that rolle bolle courts outnumber tennis courts. Henry County and the nearby Quad Cities in Illinois and Iowa host the World Rolle Bolle Tournament each year, attracting teams from within the state, along with Iowa, Minnesota and Canada. This year’s tournament spans four days, with advancing tournaments taking place in different locations.
