More and more Illinois farmers plant soybeans right into wheat stubble after wheat harvest. Wheat can provide protective soil cover in the fall and winter and uses excess nutrients that might exist in the soil. Soybeans also allow farmers to double-crop, in other words, yield food, feed and oil from two crops in one year.
