• The main characteristics of snap beans include color (green or yellow), shape (round or oval), and being either flat or semiflat .
• The term snap beans encompasses bush, pole, wax and other varieties of green beans. Fava, lima, pinto, calico and cranberry beans do not fall into the category of snap beans.
