Conveniently located in the center of the state near Interstate 70 in Bond County, the American Farm Heritage Museum welcomes visitors from near and far to learn the importance of agriculture and rural living in America. Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the museum spans 60 acres in Greenville, features multiple buildings and exhibits, and hosts several public events throughout the year.
The Lil’ Red Barn – open Saturdays from May through October – showcases an array of antique artifacts and was awarded the Illinois Governor’s Hometown Award. Hill’s Fort is also a popular attraction on the grounds. The American Heritage Railroad even operates a 1-mile train ride on the first Saturday of every month from May through October and at special events. Other popular events include Halloweenville, held each weekend in October, and the Christmas Wonderland light display, Thanksgiving to New Year’s Eve.
