Christmas cookie swap

’Tis the season to gift sweet treats to family and friends. Make it a fun, interactive experience – and cut down on the amount of baking – with a cookie swap. With just a few steps, a cookie exchange can easily become your new favorite holiday tradition.

First, send out invites a few weeks in advance, asking each guest to bring a dozen cookies for everyone to try at the party, and an extra dozen to divide up and take home. Eight to 10 guests make for a great party size and nice array of cookies.

Have each person bring copies of their cookie recipe to share at the party. Also, to help this event go smoothly, coordinate cookie selections beforehand so there aren’t several duplicates.

When it comes to party time, create cookie labels for the party with the type of cookie and the person who made it on them. Dress up a table with holiday tablecloths, greenery centerpieces and other themed decor, and use serving platters and cake plates to display the cookies.

Additionally, set up a cookie-packaging station with the other dozen for guests to take home. You can ask guests to bring their own containers or stock up on some holiday tins for a festive party favor.

Once everyone has sampled the cookies, they can pack up some of their favorites to enjoy throughout the season. Plus, they’ll have the recipe cards to re-create them.

While everybody might have their favorite holiday recipe, it is always nice to try out some new, tasty treats. Need recipe recommendations? Check out our Christmas cookie round up: A Baker’s Dozen of Christmas Cookie Recipes.
