Harvest Moon Designs

DeKalb County Farm Bureau member Valerie Weberpal weaves folk art paintings, dolls, clothing, accessories and agriculture into her day-to-day life.

When her business, Harvest Moon Designs, outgrew their house, Weberpal and her husband, John, transformed what was previously a corn crib into her new studio. Thanks to The Crib’s locale, she stays close by during planting and harvest, helping out with shuttle service and meal runs while still having her own space to make and display her creations.

This one-stop handmade shop in Sycamore showcases Weberpal’s vibrant, colorful contemporary folk art paintings and handmade dolls, home accessories, gifts, ceramics, notecards, winter wearables and more. Best known for her dolls, made using corncobs for bodies and clay for heads, she also sews dolls and even creates custom ones and an array of animals.

At The Crib, she hosts several events throughout the year, including a Christmas art show and sale as well as Open Studio days where visitors can see her works in progress.
