NubAbility Athletics Foundation Offers a Camp for a Cause
Born out of one inspiring coach’s own personal journey, NubAbility Athletics Foundation works toward the mission of instilling confidence, strength and determination in youth amputees.
Sam Kuhnert founded the nonprofit in DuQuoin in 2011. Born with only one hand, Kuhnert overcame the challenge to become a three-star varsity athlete in high school and a baseball pitcher in college. He and other amputee coaches now help children who are also missing limbs to become great athletes in mainstream sports.
Each year, the organization holds an all-sport summer camp in July for children ages 4 to 17 with limb differences. Youth can participate in several sports camps, including golf, swimming, archery, fishing and more.
