Green lacewing on a blade of grass

Green lacewing (Chrysoperla carnea) of the order Neuroptera, and family Chrysopidae, is probably one of the commonest lacewing in the UK, although recent work suggests that carnea may be two or even three separate species. These can be seen all year round in various habitats, but hibernates over winter, often in buildings. Adult and larvae feed mainly on aphids.
