Inspired by the beauty of the great Illinois prairie, artist Deana Moore Schoolcraft brings nature, animals and more to life in her artwork.

Schoolcraft, a McLean County Farm Bureau member, grew up on a grain and cattle farm near Saybrook. She focuses on an “en plein air” painting style, a French term meaning “in the open air.” Plein air painting combines all that Schoolcraft loves within one activity – creating art, spending time outdoors, and listening to the sounds and music of nature, which she credits to her mother’s influence as a vocalist and musician who always filled her childhood home with music.

With her brush, Schoolcraft paints the distinctive and simplistic beauty of the Midwest and hopes others will see the land’s gorgeous offerings within her work. To learn more about Deana Moore Schoolcraft’s artwork, visit deanamooreschoolcraft.com.
